Great sink rate, and large flare window to make foot landings easier.  The Freedom 220 Tandem is certified to a maximum payload of 500 lbs, and the Sail Ribs are carbon-fiber reinforced to maintain efficient and consistent camber while under heavier flight loads.  The Freedom 220 Tandem is based on our Freedom hang glider, available in 150, 170, and 190 sq ft sizes.

The Freedom 220 Tandem is officially HGMA CERTIFIED as of December 8, 2011.

SAIL
The sail design of the FREEDOM comes from many years of improving sail cut and shaping techniques, utilized by our sail designs to control twist to get impressive performance without locking up the sail and subsequent handling problems.  Our standard sail is made with high quality 4.1 oz medium finish Dacron sailcloth.  We also have a full race sail option, using Mylar (PX10T) in the main body.

FRAME
We use only the best aircraft tubing available.
The FREEDOM uses 7075-T6 tubing for the mainframe and ribs, making our gliders very strong and lightweight.  7075 tubing is imported from Europe, and our 6061-T6 is a seamless drawn domestic tube manufactured to industrial standards or to North Wing's custom specifications that exceed these standards.

"Kamron and Linda, By now we have flown about 50 flights on our brand new Freedom 220.  It is the sweetest Tandem I have flown.  My experience comes from 6 different 2-place gliders.  More than 3000 tandem flights, and I have to say that you guys nailed it with the design of this one.  I found no unpredictable behavior at all.  Not with 200 lbs and neither with 450 lbs hook-in weight.  My students like it for the light handling and easy characteristics.  Tug pilots like it because they see a respectable climb rate on tow.  It flew straight and true right out of the box.  Thanks!"
